2009.
Wow, what a night!!!
On Thursday 19th November 2009 eighteen young people from school went to the Novas Contemporary Urban Centre, nine of them performed on stage whilst the other nine gained some valuable work experience.
Prior to the event some of the young people attended training sessions and learnt valuable skills for working in different areas of the entertainment business. The training covered; backstage, comparing, customer service and marketing.
The quality on-site training enabled all of the young people to carry out their duties on the evening more effectively and their hard work was rewarded with a gift voucher.
Then, Colin’s class (08) showed off their talents by performing ‘Paintings with Partridge’ on stage.
All four judges were so impressed with the performance that they could not offer any constructive criticism.
They described it as “a creative and imaginative way to help young people to learn about artists and their work. They hope that everyone will remember what they had learnt through their performance.”
Nobody was surprised when Redbridge High School won the prize for the best performance as it was absolutely fantastic.

Children In Need Day
Well done to Class 9 who organised our fun day activities for ‘Children in Need’. There was a fine range of ‘Silly Socks’ seen around school, tombola and cakes to spend our money on and everyone enjoyed the ‘hula hoop contest’ in the afternoon. The day raised a total of £101.00 towards the grand total of £ 20,309,000 was raised nationally…….a great day, well done everyone.
Healthy Schools Week October 12th- 17th.
This years Health Week took place between Monday 5th and Thursday 8th October. Various activities were arranged including Wake and Shake first thing in the morning where all pupils performed stretching, jumping, skipping, stepping and dancing exercises in the hall.
Pete Chadwick conducted Yoga and Relaxation groups during the afternoon and Sarah’s class got the opportunity to go sledging at Pendle Ski Club. A major event was the Sponsored Walk planned for the Tuesday but thwarted by inclement weather and so performed at different times during the remainder of the week.
The week ended with a visit by the Skylight Circus group who worked closely with pupils developing many essential co-ordination skills through traditional circus activities.
Judo Club continues to thrive in school. We are now running this club exclusively (and not in conjunction with Bank View as in previous years). We offer pupils the opportunity to participate for blocks of five weeks and so constantly change the composition of the group. The sessions are run by Terry Powell and his team.
